Terms of Service
Effective November 4, 2026
These are the rules for using Mealplum. We’ve tried to write them so you can actually read them. The parts about your subscription and about food allergies matter most.
This agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and HeavenlyTrade S.R.L.S, Via Roma 114, 81100 Caserta (CE), Italy, VAT IT04635090618 (“Mealplum”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Mealplum app, the services behind it and this website (together, the “Service”). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of these Terms.
By creating an account, starting a trial or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Mealplum.
Who can use Mealplum
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to create an account or subscribe. Children can’t have accounts; a parent or guardian can add them to a household as profiles.
When you add information about other people, such as their name, age or allergies, you confirm that you are allowed to do so, for example as their parent or guardian, or because they agreed.
Your account
You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code we email you. Keep your devices and email secure: you are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us at support@mealplum.com.
Households
Mealplum is shared by a household. A household has one owner and can have members, up to 6 accounts and 8 profiles in total.
- The owner pays for the subscription, invites and removes people, manages billing and can delete the household.
- Members can change the plan, the list and their own rules. They don’t see or manage billing, and they never pay.
- Everyone in a household can see the shared plan, list, pantry and receipts, and everyone’s diets and allergies. Emails and payment details stay private.
- Invite links work once and expire after 7 days. Only send them to people you want in your household.
- Members’ access to paid features depends on the owner’s subscription. If it ends, it ends for the whole household.
- If you leave, your account, rules, goal, ratings and saved recipes come with you; the plan, list, pantry, receipts and subscription stay with the household. An owner must pass ownership to another adult before leaving. If an owner deletes their account without passing ownership, the household is deleted for everyone, and we warn you before that happens.
Subscription, trial and billing
Automatic renewal. Mealplum offers a 7-day free trial, then a subscription that renews automatically: $39.99 a year or $7.99 a month (US prices, plus any applicable tax). The trial turns into a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends. After that, your subscription renews at the end of each year or month, and your Apple ID is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
How to cancel: on your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mealplum → Cancel Subscription. You can also cancel in the app, from Home → Subscription. Deleting the app or your Mealplum account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
- Reminder: we remind you 2 days before any charge. This reminder can’t be turned off.
- Trial: one free trial per Apple ID, as the App Store allows. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- Prices and offers: the price, period and renewal price are shown in the app before you confirm. We may sometimes offer a different price; it renews at the price stated in that offer. Prices may differ outside the US.
- After you cancel: you keep full access until the end of the trial or the period you paid for. Nothing more is charged.
- Payments and refunds: subscriptions are bought and billed through Apple’s App Store, and Apple’s terms apply to the payment. We can’t see your payment details or issue refunds ourselves. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. If you write to us, we’ll help you through it.
- Price changes: if we raise the price of your subscription, you’ll be told in advance by Apple and, where required, asked to agree. If you don’t agree, the subscription ends at the end of the current period.
- Restore purchases: if you reinstall Mealplum or get a new iPhone, tap Restore at the bottom of the plans screen (“Your first week is free.”) while signed in to the same Apple ID.
- Without a subscription you can still see your week and one recipe. Other features, like the grocery list, cooking and scans, need an active trial or subscription.
If you live in the EU or UK, you may also have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days; Apple handles this under its terms.
Food, allergies and nutrition
Mealplum is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice. It is a tool to plan meals and groceries. It doesn’t diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian about allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy, children’s diets or weight loss.
Always read the label. Mealplum keeps allergens out of the recipes it plans, based on the ingredients in our recipes and the rules you set. It can’t know what is in the specific product you buy: brands differ, recipes and ingredients change, products can carry traces from shared equipment (“may contain”), and stores substitute items. Check the label of every product, every time, especially for anyone with a severe allergy, and follow your allergist’s advice.
- Nutrition and portions are estimates. Calories come from USDA data and real values vary with the product, brand, preparation and portion. Goals like “Lose weight” are for adults only and only change portions and sides; Mealplum is not a diet program.
- Shelf life is a guide. “Use soon” dates are estimates based on USDA FoodKeeper guidance and what you told us. Check food before you eat it, and when in doubt, throw it out.
- Cook safely. Follow safe food handling and cooking temperatures, and use your own judgment in the kitchen. Timers and steps are there to help, not to replace your attention.
- You make the call. You decide what to buy, cook and serve, and you are responsible for checking that it is safe for the people you feed.
Scans and AI
Receipt and kitchen scans are read by an AI service. It can misread a line, a price, a quantity or an item. That’s why every scan ends on a confirm screen: please check it before you save. AI is never used to decide allergies, diets or rules, or to calculate prices, calories or portions. Scans have weekly and daily limits to prevent abuse.
Prices are estimates
Prices marked “est.” are our estimates, and weekly totals are shown as ranges. “Live” prices come from Kroger for the store you picked and can change at any time. Prices, offers and availability differ by store, day and product. The price you pay at checkout is the one that counts, and we aren’t responsible for differences between our estimates and what you pay.
Stores and other services
Mealplum doesn’t sell groceries. When you send your list to Kroger or open your cart on Walmart, you are using their services under their own terms and privacy policies; orders, payments, substitutions and delivery are between you and the store. Some links are affiliate links, and the store may pay us a small commission, which doesn’t change your price. We aren’t responsible for other companies’ services, and features that depend on them may change or stop if they change their services.
Your content
What you put into Mealplum, such as your household’s profiles, plans, lists, ratings and receipts, stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run, secure and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may keep price data that has been combined across many households so that it no longer identifies anyone, and use it to improve price estimates, even after you delete your account.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use Mealplum to harm, harass or deceive anyone;
- upload photos other than receipts and food storage, or photos of people;
- add a child under 13 as an account holder, or pretend to be someone else;
- get around scan limits, access controls or security, or overload our systems;
- scrape, copy or republish our recipe library, photos or price data;
- copy, change or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- resell or share access to Mealplum outside your household.
Our content and your license
The Mealplum app, its design, recipes, photos, illustrations, price estimates and brand belong to us or to the people who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your household’s own non-commercial use, under these Terms and the App Store’s usage rules. Recipes are for cooking at home, not for republishing.
Apple App Store terms
If you got Mealplum from Apple’s App Store, these points also apply:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support of the app.
- If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it doesn’t meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow the terms of any third-party service you use with the app, such as your mobile carrier.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Ending your use
You can stop using Mealplum and delete your account at any time. Remember to cancel your App Store subscription too.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or when the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it. If we ever stop offering Mealplum, we’ll tell you in advance and give you time to download your data.
The sections on your content, our content, food and allergies, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply after your use ends.
Changes
We keep improving Mealplum, so features may change. If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Mealplum after that, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Mealplum is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will always be available or error-free, that plans, nutrition values or prices will be exact, or that every product you buy will match your household’s rules. Some states and countries don’t allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of Mealplum. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Mealplum in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
These limits don’t apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, to fraud, to gross negligence or willful misconduct, or to any liability that can’t be limited under the law that applies to you. Some states don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Governing law and disputes
If something goes wrong, please write to us first at legal@mealplum.com. Most problems can be solved that way, and we’ll try in good faith for at least 30 days before either of us goes to court.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This choice of law doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the state or country where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts where you live or in the courts of Italy; if we need to bring a claim against you as a consumer, we’ll do so in the courts where you live. There is no arbitration clause in these Terms, and nothing here waives your right to go to court or to small claims court.
General
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Mealplum.
- If a part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up.
- You can’t transfer these Terms to someone else. We may transfer them if Mealplum is sold or merged, and your rights under them will stay the same.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- If these Terms are translated, the English version controls where the law allows.
